We’ve been having a blast this past month. Sorry I haven’t been sharing any of our fun with you. I’ve been eager to sit down and post snippets of our activities or the goofy things the kiddos have been saying/doing but at 9 at night I either read or write and reading has been winning out. We had such a fun day yesterday though I just had to ignore my book and fill you in.
I have a cousin named Sarah who lives in Sycamore. We have never visited her there. She has horses. She works, on occassion, at the Sycamore Speedway that houses Tow Mater. She has a soon-to-be mother-in-law with kittens. She has a HUGE dog named Dozer. She lives by a beach with tons of little fishies swimming around. After our spur of the moment visit yesterday all I’m wondering is why it took me so long to visit?!? Here are a few photo highlights:
Greeting Fox (white horse) and Cash (brown horse).
Fox was intrigued by the carseat.
Lilly taking her turn riding Cash.
Odin riding a horse for the very first time and LOVING it!
Of course Ela needed a turn too which turned into a good photo op
After saying goodbye to the horses we headed to the Speedway and found this gem in one of the barns. Mater and Lightening McQueen are only like his favorite characters on the planet so needless to say he thought it was pretty cool.
A 30 minute drill session then began as he asked a couple questions over and over again until he got a satisfactory answer from me. Basically he just wanted to know where the heck Lightening McQueen was. Luckily he was distracted from his questions by the kittens.
That little kitten sure loved the carseat strap. I don’t know what it was about that dang carseat because first Sarah’s horse, Fox, nibbled on in and knocked it over with its nose (Ela was not in it at the time) and then the kitten messed around with it and then once we got back to Sarah’s for lunch her dog, Dozer, was checking it out too.
Finally we went to the beach. It is a nice lake with a well maintained beach hidden in an RV park. It was a great way to end our visit. The water was warm and clear and full of bluegills that Lilly and Odin enjoyed chasing.
All-in-all it was a very fun trip and we hope to go visit again soon.
The cherry on top of this sweet day was that once we got home Odin pooped in the potty! Hip hip hooray! (Good golly the things parents get excited about…) It’s the first time he has done it and we were all extremely proud. This whole relaxed, on-his-own-time potty training method is working pretty well and is so stress free.
I hope you all are enjoying your summer as much as we are.
